Eid Mubarak!

Eid mubarak!!

Eid refers to the occasion itself, and Mubarak is roughly 'may it become good for you', but the phrase is used in the same context that Merry Christmas would be.
May it become good for all of us, regardless of religion.
(nice to be back on the blog scene)

after a day of unending stress (financially that is) look what i found!

just when i was to start my week (on a sunday!) yep! my work starts on sunday, i encountered again one of the disadvantages of having your own mode of transport, a somewhat serious mechanical problem on my vehicle. as i was starting it up early this morning because i have to accompany my wife to work there was an unending flash sign on my panel board for which i thought was not that serious to ignore. last week, the car won't start so my first assessment was the battery, but when i checked the indicator on the battery the color was still blue and this means it's okay, hindi pala! then i remembered it has been two years since we acquired the car and this means that the lifespan of the battery has come it an end. masakit sa bulsa pero kelangang palitan na and after that i thought everything will be okay. so this morning i called a mechanic and inquired regarding that green flashing light on the panel board and he said that something's wrong with the four wheel drive mechanism (hindi ko pa nga nagagamit sira na). the mechanic explained that everything in a modern car right now is electronic, in layman's term "komplikado na ang lahat" hehehehe. so i drove the car to the shop and i was even more shocked when a "kabayan" told me it will cost me 1000++ qatari riyals!! (pucha dyes mil!) :( just for a switch and solenoid valve and i don't even know how do they work! hehehehe so i left the car in the shop, went out for a walk to the bus stop with a 44-degree celsius temperature outside samahan mo pa ng sandstorm a pagsakay ko ng bus para akong umubos ng isang lata ng spray net sa buhok ko! imagine walking under the sun at 10 AM!
i couldn't even relax inside the bus, the aircon can't keep up with the heat plus the passengers! man! ang baho!!! lahat na siguro ng klase ng baktol maamoy mo sa loob ng bus. pwede sa Guinness!
i wasn't able to report for work on a regular time so now i'm here in the office until 10PM. i was reading some news on www.inquirer.net and i read on the breaking news link regarding Club Dredd. haba ng story ko no? hehehe it made me wax nostalgic nax!!! hehehe when i read that Club Dredd has been brought back to life, with the efforts of none other than Patrick Reidenbach. i really miss those days when i was still in college, saving 100 bucks for the entrance fee and 50 bucks for beer and smokes. nakakamis yung amoy ng banyo! yung palpak na sound system at yung gotohan sa tabi ng Dredd dati.
i'll be on vacation on october so definitely i will go to Club Dredd! nga lang sa eastwood na baka maging "conio" na Club Dredd wag naman sana.

the enigma that is raul

well he did not make headlines when he said that when the Human Security Act is effective next month, the media could be a target for surveillance such as wiretapping if they are considered threats to national security or suspected to be sympathizers to so called enemies of the state (or enemies of Gloria).
how the hell does this deranged man have a position as a cabinet secretary and address him as "honorable" and a salary from a hard earned taxpayer's money? when everytime he opens his mouth nothing significant comes out of his pie hole. he should be forcefully retired from his cabinet position and live in his world of the unknown. i think he already has dementia which is full blown. i am put pf the country right now and everytime i read the news about the philippines and this guy shows up it really irritates me. look at his face, a face only his mother could love! :) siRaulo talaga!

driving in qatar

if this was more of a close up pic it could get a bit gory. this is just one of the reminders of driving way above the speed limit, actually a year ago the other vehicle was a toyota landcruiser i was just wondering why they removed that SUV and placed a smaller vehicle. this landmark is seen on the doha - al khor road. from my own observation as a motorist here in qatar, this landmark does not seem to make a great effect on most drivers passing by this landmark, when the speed limit is 120/kph and after passing through this one six cameras are waiting along the stretch of this long road and yes these cameras don't offer that much scare to drivers going way up the speed limit, especially landcruisers and nissan patrols driven by locals and expats alike.

Heroes World Tour to Promote Season 1 DVD and HD DVD Releases

NBC Universal flexes its collective muscles as part of an ambitious company-wide initiative to showcase NBC's hit series Heroes with the "Heroes World Tour," which will kick off the Heroes: Season One DVD and HD DVD release in domestic and international markets and feature the cast on a personal tour as production resumes on the drama's second season. The news follows last week's announcement that unveiled a multi-faceted, 360-degree marketing campaign shared by Nissan and NBC on behalf of Heroes. The announcement was made today by John Miller, Chief Marketing Officer, NBC Universal Television Group and President, The NBC Agency. "This challenging, multi-dimensional venture is a full-throttle effort to utilize all the assets afforded by NBC Universal with a true global vision," said Miller. "It is only fitting that this worldwide marketing adventure be centered on an epic series such as Heroes. which is ready to take the world by storm, both literally and creatively." "We are thrilled to be embarking on this exciting venture," said Tim Kring, creator and executive producer of Heroes, who will be joining fellow executive producer Dennis Hammer on the world tour. "The theme of Heroes has been about people from all over the planet coming together to do great things. About making the world a smaller, more inter-connected place. This tour is the embodiment of those ideals. Clearly, the show has struck a real chord with people around the world, creating a huge fan base. We're eager to visit these fans and spread the word about the show." "Heroes" will be propelled into stores on August 28 for the DVD and HD-DVD launch of its heroic first season in an elaborate seven disc set loaded with bonus features, including 50 deleted scenes and the never aired 73 minute premiere episode. In late August, cast members will continue the "Heroes World Tour" with personal appearances in various countries. In Australia, it premiered on the Seven network as the #1 program of the day among programs on all channels -- and produced the largest premiere audience in Australia since "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives" in 2005. In the United Kingdom, it delivered the largest audience ever in SCI FI UK's history and is gearing up for its launch on BBC Two this summer. In Spain, Heroes delivered the #1 and #2 highest-rated telecasts in the history of SCI FI Spain, and also ranks as the #1 telecast so far in 2007 of any U.S. series on the FORTA regional channels Canal 2 (Andalusia), TV3 (Catalonia), Telemadrid (Madrid) and Canal 9 (Valencia). Heroes secured another #1 milestone in Singapore as the #1 program of the day on Star World versus all entertainment channels in the territory. Upcoming international premiere launches include Germany and France, with additional territories to be announced. Heroes is distributed outside of the U.S.and Canada by NBC Universal International Television Distribution. In addition, NBC.com will be the online destination for fans following the Heroes adventure as the cast and producers travel the world. The "Heroes World Tour" site (NBC.com/Heroesworldtour) will include photos and video from each international location, as well as vlogs and personal photos from the actors in each city. Fans from around the world can also upload their photos from the events, uniting the online community for a shared global experience. About 20 percent of traffic to NBC.com/Heroes during the regular season came from international countries. The encompassing Heroes campaign also includes Universal Studios Consumer Products Group, which is pursuing licensing partners both domestically and internationally across all categories, including, but not limited to apparel, accessories, collectibles, publishing and toys. Select product will begin entering the retail marketplace in Fall 2007. Earlier this month, Nissan and NBC announced a wide-ranging, robust marketing program for the second season of "Heroes," encompassing product integration, off-channel platforms, wireless applications, traditional television advertising and significant on-air and online sponsorships. In the one-of-a-kind deal, Nissan will use Heroes as the central hub of a multi-pronged marketing campaign for the launch of its new crossover vehicle, the Nissan Rogue. The effort will kick off with Nissan sponsoring the world tour in mid-August. "Heroes" was the #1 first-year series of the 2006-07 television season in all key ratings categories (including a tie for #1 among women 18-34) and is NBC's top new drama in 12 years. Heroes finished the season as the #2 scripted series on all of network television among men 18-34 and men 18-49. From creator/writer Tim Kring comes the Golden Globe nominated "Heroes," an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities.
